Helping young people get on the road to employment
For young people working towards employment, a driver’s licence can open up opportunities. Blue Light’s driver training program helps young people take this important step, providing support as they work towards getting licensed.
To support this work, Rapid Relief Team (RRT) recently handed over a new driver training car to Blue Light in Christchurch. RRT will also continue to sponsor the vehicle’s running costs, helping Blue Light deliver practical training for young drivers.
In the video below, Joe Graham, General Manager of Blue Light NZ, and a student in the program share what this support means to them.
"It's the licence not only to the car, but actually a licence to their future."

RRT’s Driver Training Program began in 2018 at Manurewa High School in Auckland, with a donated vehicle and quarterly funding towards running costs. The programme has since expanded to support Blue Light, Kainga Pasifika Hawkes Bay and Rule Education Trust.
The aim is straightforward: help remove a barrier to employment by supporting people to gain their restricted or full licence.
Thank you to the Blue Light team for helping young people build their skills and confidence behind the wheel, and take the next step towards their future.
