Over 250 Cyclone hit Farmers in Hawkes Bay receive free fencing
A convoy of a dozen trucks rolled into the Hawkes Bay showgrounds laden with over 75km of fencing supplies for Farmers Community Connect event on Friday 21st of July.
The convoy and event were organised by the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), gifting over 250 farmers from Hastings and the surrounding areas with more than 20,000 fence posts and fencing supplies to help them get back on their feet after Cyclone Gabrielle.
RRT volunteers served gourmet burgers and barista coffees to more than 400 locals who joined in – what a great day it was. Farmers also had access to a range of services throughout the day including veterinary, local council teams, industry advisors, mental well-being and support.
"A massive thank you to the sponsors who contributed to the day including MPI, Evergreen Trust, NAF, Rural Support Trust, Eastern & Central Community Trust along with other Supporters and Service Providers who made the day a great success. A second event is being scheduled for farmers in the Gisborne and Wairoa area on Friday 1st September. Connect with us on facebook for registration details to be shared soon."
Cameron Prestidge - RRT Director
A massive shout-out to the number of RRT donors and volunteers that helped to make this day such a success. Without you we simply wouldn’t have been able to provide such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere to provide local farmers with much needed hope and support. THANK YOU!
