RRT Supports Orange Sky on World Homeless Day

On World Homeless Day, 10 October 2025, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) was honoured to support Orange Sky Aotearoa, helping raise awareness and provide care for people experiencing homelessness and hardship in Auckland and Wellington.
Orange Sky provides free mobile laundry and warm showers to those doing it tough across New Zealand — offering not only practical help but also connection, conversation, and dignity.
This year’s collaboration took two different forms across the country:
Wellington – A Morning of Giving
It was a wild and windy Wellington day, but that didn’t stop commuters from showing their support. At Wellington Central Train Station, RRT volunteers served 500 freshly cooked Bacon & Egg Rolls and Barista Coffees to early-morning travelers. The breakfast giveaway encouraged donations to Orange Sky, with all proceeds supporting their ongoing outreach services.
Thanks to the generosity of the Wellington community, the event raised over $5,000 to help keep Orange Sky’s vans on the road.
Included below is a video testimonial from Orange Sky’s Fundraising Manager, sharing more about the partnership, the impact of the day, and how community support makes a real difference for people experiencing homelessness.

Auckland – A Meal for Those Who Need It Most
Meanwhile, in Auckland’s St Patrick Square, RRT’s Warkworth team focused on directly supporting people experiencing homelessness. Volunteers served RRT’s Signature Burgers, providing not only a nourishing meal, but also care and connection for individuals who are often unseen in our cities.

Together, both events captured the true spirit of World Homeless Day — communities uniting to show compassion, lend support, and raise awareness for those facing homelessness across New Zealand.
