The Rapid Relief Team has trucked emergency water supplies to Lithgow to assist as the community recovers from a major water outage. The RRT bulk water tanker brought in 26,000 litres from Wallerawang and arrived at the Lithgow Showground last night.

Additionally, volunteers brought in 2,600 chilled bottles of drinking water to distribute to residents. The RRT bulk water tanker will run continuously between Wallerawang and Lithgow until the mains are reprimed and water flow is restored.

The tanker is also on standby if it is needed to divert to any emergencies, for example if a house fire broke out before supply is restored.

“The past few days without water have been challenging for Lithgow residents and the Rapid Relief Team wanted to do what it could to help. RRT volunteers would usually truck in water supplies during fire emergencies – so this was a bit of a different situation."
