RRT Toowoomba Called in to Support Firefighters Battling Smoky Blaze

RRT was called up to support the Queensland Fire Department as it fought a bushfire near Cooyar near Toowoomba. They sent a team of 18 volunteers to assist after the fire broke out mid-week, to provide meals to firefighters on the frontline.
They remained on site for three days, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and other refreshments to emergency crews to ensure they could keep battling the blaze. The conditions were dangerous for firefighters and residents as heavy smoke was having significant impact.

“We wanted to provide relief to the firefighters who have been working tirelessly in tough conditions. We are coming into the time of year when our firies will be on high alert, and RRT will always be ready to answer a call for help to provide the sustenance needed to keep crews going.”
Local Team Leader, George Millar
