Cyclists Unite for LOROS Cause: RRT Serves Support
On September 7th, the LOROS Annual Bike Ride made its return this year. This popular event has long been a cherished challenge, uniting people from all walks of life to support LOROS in its mission to provide free, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their families, and caregivers across Leicestershire and Rutland, raising thousands of pounds for thousands of people.
The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Leicestershire was thrilled to be part of the event, serving up around 250 burger meals to 240 cyclists. RRT volunteers set up the red tent and grilled burgers throughout the day. After completing the 100-mile journey through the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, cyclists gathered around the tent, sharing stories and showing their support for the cause.
An impressive £42,000 has been raised this year, highlighting the incredible dedication and generosity of everyone involved. A key moment of the day was the lunch stop at Bosworth Marina, 50 miles into the ride, where cyclists enjoyed a well-deserved break.
As they rode through the sunny landscapes and past local landmarks, the cyclists enjoyed the views while giving back to the community and supporting a worthy cause. This event was significant in bringing the community together, fostering a shared commitment to service, and positively impacting the lives of those in need.
