Meals of Appreciation: A Partnership for NHS Staff

Posted: October 1, 2024

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has joined forces with the South Warwickshire Foundation Trust to support numerous NHS staff and hospitals across the UK, including Leamington and Warwick hospitals. This collaboration aims to recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication that NHS staff contribute to the community during various thank-you events.

Organised by the South Warwickshire Foundation Trust, Thank You Meal events were held at both Leamington and Warwick hospitals. On September 12th, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers supported the ‘Thank You Meal’ event at Warwick Hospital, and on September 24th, RRT volunteers from Leamington served staff at Leamington Hospital for their Hospital Staff Meal. These events are essential in the health sector, with reports indicating that 90% of staff felt the meals helped them connect with their teams, allowing NHS staff to take a well-deserved break from their hectic schedules.

During these events, volunteers served 2,000 burgers and refreshments to staff and attendees. This allowed colleagues to bond and enjoy a much-needed break from their daily routines. Many attendees were seen carrying boxes of food to share with their NHS team members, contributing to the uplifting atmosphere of the occasion.

Harkamal Heran- Chief Operating Officer- SWFT, commented on the partnership:

“Here, as part of our celebration to ourselves, we have the Rapid Relief Team here providing our wonderful teams with a lovely little lunch. The Rapid Relief Team have really kindly come and provided burgers for our team across our sites at SWFT, and I just want to thank our staff and the Rapid Relief Team.”

Dave Skinner, Mayor of Warwick, commented on the partnership:

“I’ve met the Rapid Relief Team before to see what they do, and I am amazed at what they are achieving locally, nationally and internationally. It is wonderful to see; I really appreciate everybody here.”

Sophie Gilkes, Chief Strategy Officer at SWFT, commented on the partnership:

“I want to say a massive thank you to the Rapid Relief Team for coming here and doing this for our staff. Its something small, but it makes a massive difference to people.”
