RRT MEDIA RELEASE

Wednesday, 14th October 2026

Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers have come together to support the Mount Barker community through a series of local events, as the cost of living continues to impact families leading up to the holiday season.

RRT volunteers served local families through the Mount Barker Community Centre’s Community Pantry program and provided sausage sandwiches and drinks at Mount Barker District Council’s “Get Stoked” bicycle and skateboarding event.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports local communities through practical assistance, food relief and community events.

Local spokesperson Garry Grace said community partnerships can make a real difference where support is needed.

“Our congregation is proud and fortunate to live in this beautiful region, and our hope is to make small contributions to give back and hopefully make a positive difference locally,” said Mr Grace.

“Mount Barker Community Centre is a pillar of the community and we’re big fans of their work.

“We were pleased to come together in support of their food relief program, providing an opportunity for community members to connect over a free BBQ while the pantry was open for collections.

“You will see us back at the community centre serving meals again on October 27.

“Our partnership extends back to May, when our congregation came together to donate funds and supplies, and we’re proud to continue joining forces for good.

“We were also grateful for the opportunity to support Council’s ‘Get Stoked’ event in the school holidays, where we served some very hungry young people at the skate park in Keith Stephenson Park.

“We are always happy to collaborate with Council and local organisations because these events and work in the community are what make Mt Barker such a great place to live.”

Through partnerships with local organisations and councils, RRT volunteers help provide practical support to families, encourage community connection and contribute to initiatives that benefit the Mount Barker region.
