Fuelling Footsteps to Help Raise Funds for Very Special Kids
The Rapid Relief Team has served up 840 meals and 760 coffees alongside a lot of encouragement, as part of the Very Special Kids 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge.
Participants kept 35 treadmills moving continuously for 24 hours, with the goal of raising more than $1 million for Very Special Kids, Victoria’s only children’s hospice.
RRT Local Team Leader Simon Mauger said keeping the walkers, joggers and runners on the treadmills stationed at Very Special Kids House going through Friday and Saturday required a continuous supply of refreshments and food.
“RRT was so pleased to be part of the Very Special Kids 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge 2026, which raised more than $1.15 million towards 24-hour specialist paediatric palliative care and family support services,” said Simon.
“RRT Berwick volunteers were on hand to supply breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the walkers, runners and joggers, and we brewed up 760 coffees to deliver a much needed caffeine boost.
“This was a really fun community event for such an important cause that touches the lives of so many kids and their families – well done to all who participated.”
Very Special Kids provides care and support to seriously ill kids, young people and their families.
