Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers supported the Leeton & District Local Aboriginal Land Council’s annual NAIDOC Family Fun Day, helping provide food for community members attending the celebration at Gossamer Park.
Held as part of NAIDOC Week, the event celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community and connection, bringing together families and residents from across the region.
The family-friendly event featured an official ceremony, a free BBQ lunch, community stalls, activities and information from local organisations, creating an opportunity for people of all ages to connect and celebrate.
RRT volunteers provided catering support throughout the day, helping ensure attendees could enjoy the festivities and spend time with family, friends and community members.
RRT Leeton Local Team Leader Terry Padgen said the team was proud to support an event that fosters community connection and cultural celebration.
“NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our volunteers were pleased to play a small role in helping bring the community together for this special occasion.”
The event also provided attendees with access to information, services and support from a range of local organisations, strengthening community connections and engagement.
