MEDIA RELEASE

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has answered a call for support from NSW Fire and Rescue after a blaze broke out in an industrial area in the Tamworth suburb of Taminda.
RRT, the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, responded quickly and were on the scene at the fire in the wrecking yard within an hour.
Local Team Leader Scott McDonald said volunteers served 70 meals to fire crews as they fought to extinguish the fire late yesterday.
“RRT acted quickly when we got the call up from NSW Fire and Rescue, and we were on the ground to provide dinner to crews within an hour,” said Scott.
“During an emergency, RRT makes sure to deliver on-the-ground support to the frontline when it’s needed so they can keep doing their jobs to keep the community safe.
“This was a ferocious blaze that required the response of both NSW Fire and Rescue and RFS crews, and RRT served 70 meals to keep them going.”
RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community. These efforts reflect the Plymouth Brethren beliefs, which guide members to provide practical support in times of need.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
