Berwick Volunteers Support Great Aussie Hike for Families in Need
RRT PRESS RELEASE
Monday, 19th October 2026
Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Berwick volunteers once again supported the Great Aussie Hike on Saturday, 17 October, helping participants take on the challenge while raising funds for families experiencing hardship.
The Great Aussie Hike brings people together through team-based hiking challenges that promote connection, perseverance and community spirit, while supporting charitable organisations through fundraising efforts.
This year’s event raised funds for Mums Supporting Families in Need (Mums in Need), a charity that provides essential material aid to families experiencing crisis, homelessness and financial hardship.
RRT volunteers supported hikers across three locations throughout the event, providing breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner to help participants refuel and stay energised as they completed the challenge.
In addition to preparing and serving meals, volunteers created welcoming rest points where participants could take a break, recharge and connect with support crews before continuing their journey.
RRT volunteer and Local Team Leader Simon Mauger said the event was a great example of communities coming together to support an important cause.
“The Great Aussie Hike is about more than completing a physical challenge. It’s about people coming together to support families doing it tough and making a real difference in their communities.
“Our volunteers were proud to play a small part in supporting participants throughout the event and helping create a positive experience for everyone involved.”
Through its catering support, RRT helped participants stay fuelled throughout the challenge while contributing to a fundraising event supporting families experiencing hardship.
