RRT Torbay Supports Dartmouth SAR Exercise
In early February 2026, teams from all four Dartmoor Search and Rescue units joined forces with Devon and Cornwall Police for a major joint training exercise across Two Bridges and Postbridge, Dartmoor. Over 40 volunteers took part, testing vital skills including navigation, stretcher carries, and radio communications in challenging, wet winter conditions. Search dogs and specialist rescue personnel also contributed to the simulated multi‑team scenarios, ensuring a realistic and valuable training environment.
Dartmoor Search and Rescue continues to play a crucial role across Devon, responding to emergencies in some of the UK’s most difficult terrain and supporting people during their most vulnerable moments.
RRT Torbay supported the exercise by serving 50 hot meals to volunteers throughout the day.
“It was a privilege to stand alongside the incredible volunteers who dedicate so much of their time to keeping the community safe. Being able to offer a warm meal and a moment of support was just a small way for us to say thank you for the essential work they do.”
