RRT Swansea Supports Emergency Response at Recycling Plant Fire
RRT Swansea volunteers supported emergency service crews responding to a major fire at a recycling plant in Swansea, where around 150,000 tonnes of material were alight. Firefighters remain on site as efforts continue to bring the incident under control following extensive damage to the facility.
The team was mobilised quickly, arriving just over an hour after call‑out to provide welfare support and prepare hot meals for crews on the ground. Our volunteers served 190 meals during the night before returning at 5.30am to provide a further 62 breakfast meals to firefighters beginning another shift as operations continued.
“This was a significant incident requiring a sustained response, and we were pleased to be able to support the crews on the ground. Providing hot meals late into the evening and again early the next morning is a simple but practical way for us to show our appreciation for the vital work emergency services do for the community.”
