RRT Supports Simon Community’s Homeless Event

Posted: December 6, 2024

Despite an unexpected storm on Thursday, the 5th, RRT volunteers from Warrenpoint stepped up to serve 200 burger meals, refreshments, and hot drinks during the Homeless Awareness Week event hosted by Simon Community and Women’s Aid.

Founded in 1971, Simon Community is Northern Ireland’s leading homeless charity, dedicated to the vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home. The organisation is committed to ending homelessness for those in need by offering preventative services, specialised support, and temporary accommodation. Additionally, Simon Community focuses on providing long-term solutions to break the cycle of homelessness.

The event was a great success, with attendees lining up to enjoy complimentary burgers and drinks. The Simon Community charity organised the event to raise awareness about homelessness and domestic violence. It also served as an opportunity to provide meals to vulnerable individuals and members of the public facing hardships and in need of extra support. The event provided a warm and welcoming space for vulnerable individuals, offering not just meals but a reminder that support is always available for those in need.

RRT plays a vital role in providing tangible support and high-quality catering assistance to charities, government bodies, and emergency services, tackling some of humanity’s most significant challenges. With compassion and inclusivity at their core, RRT volunteers welcome everyone with open arms, treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their faith, background, or circumstances.
