RRT Reading Supports HIWFRS Multi Agency Exercises

Posted: March 31, 2026

In February and March, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service coordinated a large JESIP multi-agency exercise designed to strengthen emergency response to a simulated terrorist attack with Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary. Around 20–30 live casualties took part, all working together to test readiness, communication, and joint decision making in a high-pressure scenario.

The exercises were held over 8 days, offering emergency personnel a valuable opportunity to refine procedures, build confidence, and ensure they are fully prepared to protect the public in real life situations.

75 volunteers from RRT Reading supported the exercise, serving hot drinks in the mornings and a total of 1025 gourmet burger meals for lunch over the 8 days in total to ensure the participants were well-fuelled throughout.

“It was a privilege for our team to support those who dedicate their lives to keeping communities safe. Seeing so many agencies come together with such professionalism and commitment was inspiring, and we were honoured to help sustain those taking part.”
