RNLI Bridlington Open Day Draws Community Support
Last Saturday, at the RNLI Bridlington Open Day in Hull, the community had the chance to say thank you, and charity the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) was there to mark the occasion with hot meals for crews and visitors alike.
The RNLI, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, operates volunteer lifeboat crews around the clock along the UK’s coastline, responding to emergencies and saving lives at sea. Open days offer a rare window into the work of those crews: the training, the equipment, and the commitment it takes to be ready when the call comes in.
RRT volunteers were on site throughout the day, serving hot meals to visitors and crew members, giving the lifeboat volunteers a moment to be looked after in return for the extraordinary service they provide, and helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who came to show their support.
9 RRT volunteers served 316 meals over the course of the event.
"The RNLI crews at Bridlington dedicate themselves to keeping people safe at sea, often in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions. It was a real privilege to be at their open day, to serve a meal and say thank you in a practical way to people who give so much for the safety of others. Events like this are a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and show their appreciation for the incredible work the RNLI does."

The Rapid Relief Team is made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, who have been putting compassion into action since 2013. With over a decade of experience supporting emergency services, volunteer crews, and the communities they protect across the UK, RRT volunteers show up wherever they are needed with practical care and a commitment to serving others.
