RRT has thanked the emergency services who attended its inaugural Emergency Services Awareness Day, which was a fun and informative day out for the North Riverina community.

Police, firefighters, paramedics and other frontline workers from Leeton, Griffith and Narrandera were on site to do live demonstrations and show off their vehicles and equipment, at the Palm Avenue Ovals in Leeton, while RRT cooked up a barbeque lunch for everyone who attended.

Representatives from NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), VRA Rescue NSW (VRA), and the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) were all in attendance.

“Many of the people involved in organisations like ours are volunteers themselves, and we really appreciate the effort RRT has made to bring everyone here today."

Paul Smith

VRA Rescue NSW

RRT organised the day as an expression of appreciation for the incredible work emergency services do to protect and serve the community. It was a great opportunity for VRA to let locals know what we can do to support them if they ever need it, and it builds a strong sense of community to be able to see how the frontline workers operate.

"It was a great day out for families – especially the little ones who get such a kick out of seeing fire trucks or police cars – and our volunteers kept everyone well-fed, serving up 300 Signature Burgers and other refreshments.

Terry Padgen
