Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has once again supported the Great Illawarra Walk, providing food and refreshments to 400 participants walking up to 400 kilometres to raise funds for KidsWish.

The Great Illawarra Walk is a fun day out for a great cause, with those involved walking from Shellharbour to Austinmer.

Local Team Leader Clinton Nason said it was a privilege for RRT to come back for another year supporting the much-loved event.

“The community looks forward to the Great Illawarra Walk every year as it is a fun day out, promoting wellbeing and connection for a charitable cause,” said Clinton.

“RRT volunteers served bacon and egg rolls, snacks, fruit, ice blocks and drinks, and we also set up some shaded rest areas to give walkers a place to rest and recharge on their journey.”

Founder of the Great Illawarra Walk, Chris Lovatt, thanked RRT for its ongoing involvement, describing it as “the best organisation in the world”.

“RRT have been with us for so many years now and they make the event… the happiest bunch of people we’ve ever met!” said Chris.

This year’s Great Illawarra Walk has raised almost $50,000 for KidsWish, which is an organisation providing support to children with disability or illness.
