Everyone enjoys a good game of football! One Culture Football aims to empower young people from all cultures, abilities and diverse backgrounds to forge community connections, using the world game.

Confidence is gained amongst the individual players, and groups too, helping them to take control of their lives and make positive choices while building connections with local clubs, leaders within their community, youth services, councils and other organisations.

The group practices every week at a variety of CBD locations. On Wednesday 18th of April, 8 members of RRT volunteers joined One Culture Football and a number of other organisations, including SA Police and Anglicare, to feed around 200 players and volunteers.

One Culture Football through their program helps young people to live healthier lifestyles, increase wellbeing from physical activity; reduce antisocial behaviour in the community and develop life skills such as team respect, team building and self-confidence.

The program also allows young people to create interpersonal networks, engage in personal development training and be introduced to pathways that they might not have had access to previously.

A great day in the sun was enjoyed by all. The barbecue and cold drinks were well received by the group, somewhat exhausted by their game. It’s great to know that everyone can feel welcome in the Australian Society.

A comment received from the event organisers;

“Thank you very much for another great support for our event. We look forward to more in the future. Everybody loved the food and were so grateful to RRT.”
