RRT Supports Springwood Hospital’s 50th Anniversary
RRT PRESS RELEASE
Monday, 19th October 2026
Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers supported Springwood Hospital’s 50th anniversary celebrations over the weekend, as the community paid tribute to the important health service that opened in 1976.
As a community-based hospital, Springwood Hospital relies on local support and fundraising to help deliver essential services. The hospital provides rehabilitation, palliative care and general medical support, helping residents access care closer to home without having to travel down the mountain.
Katoomba Local Team Leader Ron Simpson said supporting the hard work of hospital staff and volunteers was an important part of RRT’s commitment to communities across Australia.
“Springwood Hospital is such a valuable community asset, and we are so thankful to the doctors, nurses, carers and staff who work tirelessly to serve our community, particularly when people need care close to home,” Mr Simpson said.
Serving meals and refreshments from RRT’s signature red tent, volunteers kept busy preparing food for the many volunteers who helped make the anniversary celebrations a special occasion.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to support and celebrate our local health workers who make our lives that little bit better when we are in need of care,” Mr Simpson said.
Through its support of local hospitals and community events, RRT helps bring people together and recognise the dedicated individuals who provide essential care and services to their communities.
