RRT Supports VRA Volunteers Ahead of Emergency Services Memorial Day
PRESS RELEASE
Saturday, 10th October 2026
Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers in Penrith provided meals for Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) Rescue NSW members as they prepared for NSW Emergency Services Volunteers Memorial Day, recognising the dedication and sacrifice of emergency service personnel across the state.
Ahead of the annual memorial event, VRA volunteers gathered for lunch on Saturday, 10 October, before travelling to Sydney to participate in a practice run for the official proceedings.
RRT volunteers served approximately 35 to 40 meals, providing an opportunity for volunteers to come together before the day of remembrance and reflection.
NSW Emergency Services Volunteers Memorial Day honours emergency services volunteers who have lost their lives while protecting and serving their communities. The event provides an important opportunity to recognise their service and the lasting contribution they have made to the people of New South Wales.
RRT Penrith Local Team Leader Brian Lee said volunteers were proud to support those who dedicate their time to keeping communities safe.
“Emergency service volunteers give so much of themselves in service of others, often putting themselves in challenging situations to help people in need. Providing a meal before this important event is a small way of recognising their commitment and thanking them for the invaluable role they play in our communities,” Mr Lee said.
“Memorial Day is a significant occasion for the emergency services community. We are honoured to support local VRA volunteers as they prepare to take part and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.”
Through its support of emergency service personnel and local organisations, RRT helps bring communities together and recognises the contributions of those who dedicate their time to helping others.
