The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has supported RideWest, a 1,311-kilometre bike ride from Brisbane to Longreach to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in regional Queensland.

RRT volunteers from Ipswich and Toowoomba spent two days serving meals to cyclists as they set out on their epic weeklong journey.

RRT Toowoomba Local Team Leader George Millar said they cooked up 180 meals including morning tea and lunch, to ensure the riders were fuelled for the feat ahead.

“RideWest is a wonderful cause, which for the past 16 years has raised more than $2,600,000 for the Royal Flying Doctors to deliver their Wellbeing Out West program,” said George.

“RRT is 100 per cent supportive of the RideWest mission to ensure mental health support reaches the regions, and we are honoured to do our bit to help them reach their goals.”

“We wish all the riders all the best for the last couple of days of their journey – hopefully the conditions remain favourable with tailwinds and sunny skies – and RRT looks forward to supporting you again in the future.”

RideWest organisers thanked RRT for their hospitality, smiles and support.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community. These efforts reflect the Plymouth Brethren values, which emphasise service, generosity and supporting communities in meaningful ways.

Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
