On June 24th, the Redwood Falls Rapid Relief Team hosted a fundraiser for the Redwood Falls Police and Fire Departments.

Setting up

The Redwood Falls RRT had the opportunity to have one of the brand-new food trailers for a weekend so they approached the local emergency services about holding a fundraiser for them to show appreciation for all they do for the community.  The city of Redwood Falls was holding a city-wide celebration on the same weekend the fundraiser was planned for so they asked RRT to provide the food for the event.

RRT set up around 1PM and got the grills hot for a 3PM start time.  Once they started cooking, they kept flipping burgers and hot dogs for the hungry crowd until 10:00PM.

The crowd, mostly local people, were more than happy to pay $6 for a meal, plus many donated extra, when they saw that every dollar spent went directly to the local police and fire departments.

After the event, RRT members presented a check for $2,854.48 to the police and fire chiefs.  The chiefs and assistant chiefs that received the check were amazed by the donation and said it was much more than they were expecting.  The fire department said they were going to use the money to update their radios and the police department was using their fund to update their dash cameras.

The local RRT members felt honored to take part in giving back to their local community.  It was a great day serving food to the local people and it was rewarding to be able to give a generous donation to support the local emergency services to thank them for always being there when they’re needed most.

Enjoying the beautiful day and meal
