Philadelphia RRT Helps At May 20 Superhero Walk With Us To Cure Lupus

You might have missed the fun down at the stadium Saturday, May 20, 2017! But the handful of community volunteers from RRT Philadelphia were hard at work outside Xfinity Live preparing for the 5^th Annual Superhero Walk With Us To Cure Lupus.  This is the Lupus Research Alliance’s national fundraising program.   It takes a superhero to fight off Lupus.  Therefore, walkers of all ages dressed up as superheroes and participated to raise funds, support, and fight for the Lupus victims. The Lupus Research Alliance was formed by three organizations joining forces, and through the combined efforts hope to prevent, treat, and cure Lupus through science research.   So far just over $23,000 has been successfully raised as a result of this event.

The early rain was unexpected but did not last and gave way to very pleasant weather. The venue was well equipped for the event providing some great beats from the hefty sound system.  Fresh food and refreshments were available for all the participants.

This event would not have been the same without the friendly smiles, waves, and cheers from the RRT members at the refreshment tent. All participators received fresh fruit and drinks for a complimentary breakfast.  The event went very well and there were 600 hot dogs provided for lunch.
