The Perth Ronald McDonald Food Drive began on December 5, 2017.  The Rapid Relief Team from Perth, Ontario, reached out to several families in the community about donating non-perishable food items, and there was amazing response to support this worthy cause.

A Few Of The RRT Volunteers From Perth, Ontario.

The big day was December 16th, when four RRT volunteers drove to Ottawa to deliver 10 large gift bags full of food goods.  The bags consisted of Kraft dinner, cereal, jam, peanut butter, cheese whiz, a variety of soups, granola bars and many more items.

The Ronald McDonald House staff was very grateful for the donations, support and thoughtfulness. One of the staff members gave the RRT Volunteers a tour of their facility, which is a very home-like atmosphere that can host 14 families and was currently a full house.  The charge is only $10 per night and the guests are expected to make their own meals, clean their own rooms, and do their laundry as they would if they were at home. Each Sick child receives a welcome Teddy Bear when they arrive, which helps ease any anxiety about having a new temporary home.  This place is dedicated to providing guests with a warm, safe, affordable, and compassionate environment. The motto for the house is “The House That Love Built.”

The Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa helps keep families together during one of life’s most stressful times…having a sick child.  Since 1984, the Ronald McDonald House has welcomed out of town families and their children, providing a welcoming, safe, affordable, temporary, accommodation for families of children being treated at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.  It also provides a place where families can share and receive moral support from each other, but at the same time can keep their lives as normal as circumstances allow with the use of a kitchen and dining room.  This particular Ronald McDonald House has the ultimate convenience of having the Children’s Hospital where the children are being treated only 167 steps from the front door.
